Indian Country is Open for International Business The National Center is the only Native organization to exhibit at the 2018 SelectUSA Investment Summit

WASHINGTON, DC – The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (the National Center) is exhibiting at the 2018 SelectUSA Investment Summit this week, which is occurring just outside of the nation’s capital in National Harbor, Maryland. The National Center is the only Native American organization that has a booth at the Summit; the Citizen Potawatomi Nation in Oklahoma is the only tribe there. The National Center is promoting infrastructure investment opportunities in Indian Country, as well as the incentives for economic development on tribal lands, including tax exemptions and credits, as well as economic opportunity zones.
The Summit provides a place for global business investors to explore investment opportunities from every corner of the United States, learn about the latest investment policies and trends from high-profile business and government leaders, to make business deals happen. Participants of the previous four Investment Summits have announced nearly $93 billion in greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) into the United States since late 2013. SelectUSA is a U.S. government-wide program led by the Department of Commerce, whose mission is to facilitate job-creating investment in the U.S. and raise awareness of the critical role that FDI plays in the American economy.

Earlier this year, Chris James participated in the 2018 Intertribal Business Summit in London, where he discussed tribal economic diversification and business opportunities with companies in the United Kingdom, as well as with high-level US and UK officials. He has also participated in Alibaba’s Gateway ’17 Conference, designed to connect U.S. companies with the growing Chinese market.
