MESA, AZ – Stephine Poston will be honored as the 2017 “Native Woman Business Owner of the Year” as a part of this year’s National Reservation Economic Summit (National RES) hosted by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. The National Center will recognize several Native American business leaders and those who have made significant contributions to advancing economic development in Indian Country during this year’s National RES. The award winners span businesses large and small, and award categories include tribal leadership, gaming, women-owned business, volunteers, and public advocacy. Stephine Poston is the President and CEO of Bernalillo, New Mexico-based Poston and Associates, a Native American-owned full service communications and public relations firm for Native American entities.

The awards are part of the 31st Annual National RES, taking place at the Mirage in Las Vegas, Nevada from March 13-16. National RES is the largest economic development gathering in Indian Country, bringing together over 4,000 Native American leaders, businesses and business owners, subject-matter experts, government officials, and others.

Ms. Poston founded Poston and Associates in 2002. Poston and Associates’ client list includes the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department, National Indian Gaming Association, and the Native American Rights Fund, among others. She has previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and New Mexico as a Public Affairs Officer, and was a Public Relations Analyst for her tribe, the Pueblo of Sandia. Ms. Poston is the co-author of the recently-released Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs in New Mexico: Surpassing Barriers and Stereotypes, and was was named a 2016 Women of Influence honoree by Albuquerque Business First.
