President’s Message – December 2022

Osiyo, and happy holidays!

I hope you are getting into the holiday spirit and enjoying quality time with friends, family, and your community.

We are wrapping up what has been an incredibly successful year at The National Center. We hosted our largest Reservation Economic Summit, where more than 3,400 people gathered in Las Vegas for the longest-running business event in Indian Country. We hired new members to our talented team, signed up new clients and helped them win hundreds of millions in contracts, and opened new offices in Las Vegas, Louisiana, and Washington, DC.

I am extremely proud of our work and look forward to empowering future generations in 2023.

Of course, we are running through the finish line to end the year. In November, we hosted our last Native Edge Institute of the year when we visited Washington, DC. Attendees heard from excellent speakers on a wide range of business-related and contracting topics. I was thrilled to welcome my friend Don Cravins Jr., who is currently serving as the first Under Secretary at U.S. Department of Commerce for Minority Business Development Agency, to the NEI. Secretary Cravins has been a tremendous ally for Native-owned businesses and I look forward to continuing our partnership.

As you begin making your plans for next year, make sure you have RES 2023 on your calendar. We’ll be back at Caesar’s Place from April 3-6. Want to be among thousands of Native leaders, the top business minds in Indian Country, and potential business partners? Book your tickets for Las Vegas today by visiting www.res.ncaied.org. We have early bird discounts available through January 13. I look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for your support of The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. I hope you have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Chris James
