The monumental shift from working in a traditional office setting to remote teleworking due to the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for cybersecurity subject matter expertise nationally and globally.

This shift provided Bull Bear Defense Solutions, LLC, an Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise (ISBEE), a chance to demonstrate and prove that secure remote working is not only possible on a large scale, but also supports highly successful projects with shorter timelines and lower costs. TACG, a Copper River Company, awarded a subcontract to the firm to support an Air Force contract.

[Quote from Jessica McKinley, President, about the subcontract.] “I am honored for the opportunity to support our customer and the USAF mission. This opportunity allows our team to expand into the Federal market and to deliver much needed Cybersecurity support for cloud-based technologies

. Our experienced team is eager to get to work and provide value add to the mission. I am excited for what the future holds for our team at Bull Bear Defense.”

Bull Bear Defense Solutions, located in New Carlisle, Ohio, offers ‘Cradle to Grave’ IT and cybersecurity consulting to both the commercial and government markets.

Jessica McKinley describes herself as a married mother of two rambunctious boys and a proud member of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. She manages day to day operations, business development and oversight of the firm.

Jessica found the Native American Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) hosted by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development on LinkedIn. She visited the PTAC’s website and submitted an online application. Procurement Specialist Crystal Pierce reached out to her.

The PTAC provided Bull Bear Defense Solutions with a foundation of knowledge of the federal contracting procurement process which allowed the firm to pursue opportunities and grow in the federal marketplace.

Jessica recommends that aspiring Native entrepreneurs “engage all resources available to you through the internet, social media, local SBA and PTAC and gather the resources necessary to start and sustain your business.”
