ATMORE, AL – The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (The National Center), with support from the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), is bringing its premier one-day, in-person Native Edge Institute (NEI) to Alabama in February. The event will take place at the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, Alabama. The National Center is excited to bring a schedule filled with expert speakers and training sessions designed for both established and aspiring business owners. Speakers include Poarch Band Chairwoman Stephanie A. Bryan, and President of PCI Aviation Mal McGhee. In 2019, the Poarch Band won the American Indian Leadership Award at the Reservation Economic Summit (RES).

“Native Edge Institutes are incredible tools for new and established business owners and entrepreneurs,” said National Center President and CEO Chris James. “Working with our fantastic partners and team on the ground, NEI Alabama will provide insight into the unique aspects of government contracting and procurement. We hope you’ll join us and our lineup of expert speakers, session leaders, and procurement specialists, all dedicated to helping you and your business. We could not be more excited to host our first NEI in the Deep South.”

NEIs are one-day, in-person training events that provide both established and aspiring business owners critical business training. NEIs also connect participants to existing resources available in their region, to go along with one-on-one business counseling/coaching and matchmaking services. Access to the National Center’s unique N2N (Native to Native) business network will be made available to all attendees, as well as the National Center’s in-region procurement and technical assistance training. Federal program and procurement coaching, accessing capital via Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and navigating the SBA and Bureau of Indian affairs will also be featured prominently at the events.
