The National Center University of Phoenix Scholarship

The NCAIED is honored to administer an ongoing college scholarships program for Native American students who excel academically and plan to positively impact their tribal and reservation communities through business and/or entrepreneurship. Today, our scholarship program has grown from just a few thousand dollars in scholarship awards to over $50,000 in scholarship value awarded annually to deserving students. Our various scholarships, are awarded based on various qualifying factors.

This year we are pleased to announce that the NCAIED has partnered with the University of Phoenix to provide two National Center University of Phoenix full-tuition scholarships for the 2014 fiscal year. This scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master’s degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipient may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online. 

The National Center Scholarship to the University of Phoenix require a separate application to be submitted.  Here is some basic information:

  • Open application: April 22, 2014
  • Application deadline:   May 20, 2014
  • Selection committee: June 3 –July 1, 2014
  • Recipient eligibility check:  July 2 –July 8
  • Award date:  July 15, 2014

THE NCAIED’s AMERICAN INDIAN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP - GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

·    Must be majoring in a business related field. 
·      Must be enrolled as a full-time student college student
·      Must be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education
·      If selected, candidate must be able to attend the Business and Awards Luncheon

(If selected as a scholarship recipient: expenses including lodging, ground transportation and airfare within the US will be provided by NCAIED)
 
*Important: If selected a candidate is unable to attend, award will be forfeited.

Deadline for NCAIED’s American Indian Business Scholarship application submission: September 05, 2014


  

INTERESTED STUDENTS SHOULD SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

(Incomplete packages will not be considered – so please ensure that you have all material submitted)

  • Completed Application
  • Official State or Federal Tribal enrollment document
  • Personal Essay on the following (250 min-350 max words per category):
    • Personal challenges you overcame in pursuit of higher education
    • Community involvement
    • Reason for pursuing higher education in business
    • Business Related Experience (Paid or Volunteer)
    • Plans following completion of degree program
    • Activities and commitment to community to be considered
  • Official Transcripts (sealed and signed)
  • Official Letter of Admission/Enrollment for 2013-2014 academic year
  • Copy of class schedule for Fall semester

APPLICATIONS WILL BE EVALUATED ON THE FOLLOWING:

  • Grades (verified by transcripts) = 30%
  • Community Involvement = 30%
  • Personal Challenges  = 25%
  • Business Experience  = 10%
  • Quality of Essay = 5%
